Azzy Paints Round 1
The first round of the Azzy Paints, Manx Trials Club Pre 65 and Twin Shock Championship Trial, took place at a new venue, Cooil Slieu Farm, on Easter Saturday. The conditions were perfect with glorious sun shine all day. There was a good turn out of riders in all classes and it was great to see three youth riders compete for the first time. All rode exceptionally well and were still smiling at the end of the day saying how much they enjoyed themselves. Colin Scarffe rode his recently purchased Fantic to win the Twin Shock class with a four mark advantage over Peter Hindley on his Ossa Gripper with Michael Owen in 3rd. Steve Collins won the Pre 65 class on his Tiger cub beating Phill Readshaw by 14 marks even though Phill was the only rider to clean section one all day. Jim Davidson finished in 3rd place over Neil Gibson who had knocked a footrest off his Dot on the first river section which he replaced with a footrest shaped rock! The next round of the championship will be on Saturday 27 May at Ballavolly Plantation at 1.30pm for a 2pm start. Chip butties will be provided at the Sulby Glen after the trial.
