The final round of the 2009 Manx Trials Club Championship took place at Ballure Plantation on Sunday 27 December in crisp, frosty conditions.
Over the challenging 32 sections, Barry Kinley once again stamped his authority on the opposition. Despite encountering mechanical problems with his kickstart and rear brake he easily took the Expert win from Chris Madigan in second and Robin Arnold, third.
In the Clubman Class, Ed Duggan held on to take the win by two marks from Steve Collins onboard his Triumph Cub, with Michael Cannan claiming the final podium position.
The highly competitive Sportsman Class was decided by only 12 marks covering the first 5 places. The nature of the sections called for a combination of speed and determination and were ideally suited for Mike Turner, Russell Millward and Rocky Buchanan to take the top three places.
In the Pre-65 Class, Colin Scarffe had the ride of the day dropping only 38 marks over the same testing course. to win from Andy Sykes on his rigid Bantam.
Phil Ward travelled all the way from Ballaragh to claim the Twinshock Class onboard his Yamaha, just holding off Kevin Whiteway's Honda.
Rising local star, Josh Brain, had an excellent ride in the Youth Expert class despite running out of fuel on the final lap.
Craig Norrey won the Youth Intermediate with a determined ride pipping Joe Yeardsley by 3 marks and Olly Megson by 8.
In the Youth Novice Class, Mark Turner claimed another win on the day for the Turner family with Brandon Bailey snapping at his heels and pocket rocket, Adam Kelly, taking the third spot.
The Manx Trials Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all the officials, landowners, farmers and DAFF for their help in 2009 and wish everyone a Very Happy New Year!
