The Manx Trials Club 2nd Round Club Championship event on Sunday 25 April was also a fund raising trial for club member, Damian Owen, who will be competing in the Scottish Six Days Trial next week.

There was an excellent turnout, with all classes catered for, including sidecars. The conditions at first proved relatively easy, but a shower of rain later in the morning made for an interesting last lap.

Club Champion, Nigel Crellin, won the Expert class with a fine ride losing only two slack dabs. Nigel Sharp claimed second spot on 9 marks whilst a couple of costly fives dropped Josh Brain out of contention.

Clubman class winner, Ed Duggan, continues to improve, whilst Saskia Baxter pipped Andrew Cubbon by one mark to take second pace on the podium.

The Ride of the Day came in the Sportsman class, when Andrew Sidebottom made a welcome return to the trials scene losing only 5 marks on the tricky wooded sections.

The Twinshock class proved to be a bit of a family podium with winner Neil Christian beating his father and father-in-law respectively.

In the Pre-65 class Jim Davidson had a great ride on his rejuvenated Triumph Cub dropping only 8 marks.

In the hotly contested Sidecar Expert class, Jake Kelly and Ealish Baxter claimed the win by just one mark from Mark Bimson and Julie Owen, with Andy and Jane Birchall in a creditable third spot.

The even more hotly contested Novice Sidecar class was won by Brian and Lauren Christian only separated on furthest clean from Brian and Stuart Bedford. Dougie Christian completed the podium with first-time passenger Sally Hardy.

The Youth Expert class saw National Championship competitor, Oliver Lace, having a storming ride to take the win from Jordan Birchall with Craig Norrey third.

Winner of the Youth Intermediate class, young Mark Turner, dropped the same marks as his father, Rob, on the same sections.

Aaron Molyneux rode extremely well to win the Youth Novice class.

We would like to thank all of the competitors for a good turnout and wish club members Damian Owen and Steve Collins all the best in the SSDT and the Scottish Pre-65 trials respectively.
