The second round of the Manx Trials Club Championship took place at Scarlett in bright, sunny
conditions on Sunday morning over four laps of eight sections for all classes.
The 2009 club championship is being run as a series of NO STOP trials comprising just two routes.
The Expert and Clubman riders tackle the more difficult route, whilst the remainder of the field have
an easier route.
In the Expert class the two Nigels battled it out for top spot, Nigel Crellin taking the victory by just one
mark from Nigel Sharpe. A disastrous 5 by Jamie Blackburn on section 1 effectively put him out of
contention for the win.
Saskia Baxter put in an excellent performance to win the Club class from the rapidly improving
Ed Duggan. Nick Warburton did well on unfamiliar machinery in third place.
In the hard fought Sportsman Class Howard Sharkey came out on top, with Rocky Buchanan pipping
ex ISDE competitor, Russell Millward, for the runner up spot.
In the ever popular Twinshock class Michael Owen kept his feet up all the way to complete
a clean round for the win. Twinshock newcomer, Jake Kelly, onboard his Yamaha, claimed second
spot from Honda mounted Kevin Whiteway by just one mark.
Regular National competitor, Youth Expert Josh Brain, was the only other rider to keep their feet up
all day recording a clean ride.
Youth Novice, Brandon Bailey, was impressive getting to grips with the terrain and fourth generation
trials rider, Adam Kelly, following the steps of his Great Grandfather, Hughie Kelly, rode extremely
well in his first Manx Trials Club event to complete the course.
The club would like to thank the observers and the landowner for their assistance.
