The second round of the Azzy Paints sponsored
Twin shock / Pre 65 trial took place at Cooil Slieu on Saturday 9 May. A
good turn out of 25 riders enjoyed 8 challenging sections after torrential
rain in the morning made for very slippery conditions. The double step
waterfall on section five provided Peter Blackburn with an early bath. Good
job it was sunny! The observer said he was up to his shoulders and his
Triumph Cub disappeared completely.
The ride of the day came from Wayne Wardell on
his Bultaco riding the 32 sections for an amazing 6 marks lost. A close
battle ensued for second place between the Christian brothers, Graham and
Neil, both dropping 17 marks the latter only just claiming the second spot
with 22 cleans to 21.
Steve Collins came out on top in the Pre 65
class on 11 marks to second placed Colin Scarffe on 20 with Roy
Wilson in third.
Thanks go the the land owners and observers.
